POSITION SUMMARY
Completes documents for emergency department admitting procedures, and supports clinical staff in the provision of patient care. Meets and greets patients and other persons, directing them as required. Identifies insurance carrier and follows through with notification and verification processes according to payer specification. Maintains surveillance of EMS radio and hotline, ensuring appropriate clinical staff is standing by to receive call. Watches patient monitors and reports unusual occurrences to nursing and physician staff. Communicates physician orders and nursing requests to other departments for tests, exams and inpatient admissions. Arranges inter-facility transfers by contacting the accepting facility and ambulance dispatch for appropriate mode of transportation requested by physician.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent education/experience Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date Must be able to pass a data entry test with an average or better score.Minimum Experience
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Experience in hospital registration, scheduling or business office processes and in a healthcare medical environment preferred. Typing and computer experience Sufficient computer skills as are required to complete an online application and the pre-employment/annual computer requirements In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferredPhysical Demands
