The Maintenance Technician (Swing Shift) is responsible for operating and maintaining a building's mechanical and utility systems. This role checks operations of all installed machinery and safety equipment, as well as inspects areas of buildings to ensure personnel and patient protection (fire, safety, and security) and recommends corrective actions. The Maintenance Technician makes emergency repairs of equipment or apparatus as required; installs, inspects, maintains and repairs mechanical and fixed equipment as directed, as well as carries out preventive maintenance programs. Applies applicable codes and regulations to maintain a safe environment. May assist in defining specifications for replacements, upgrades and renovations. May make recommendations for improved service and reliability. May also work on multiple trades.

Job Duties

In general, the Maintenance Technician:

1) Assists in major and minor utility shutdown requested by various departments, outside contractors, and in-house shops.

2) Complies with all hospital standards and policies with a focus on safety, license requirements, attendance, and training.

3) Installs new or replacement machinery, equipment, and fixtures following applicable buildling codes.

4) Maintains and repairs various equipment used in the hospitals, which include kitchen equipment, facility equipment.

5) Operates various machine tools. (Lathe, drill press, power saw, hydraulic press, etc.)

6) Performs routine inspections of building facility equipment, noting deficiencies, and initiates repairs. Responds to customer requests to address facility deficiencies.

7) Performs welding, brazing, and soldering in accordance with recognized and accepted standards and practices.

8) Assists staff with trouble-shooting repairs as well as installation of facility equipment. Checks pump and motor operation in various areas of the facility.

9) Responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance and performing repairs.

10) Responsible for recording equipment conditions and malfunction reporting to the Supervisor.

11) Transports various supplies, parts, and building materials and delivers to appropriate locations as required.

12) Monitors and inspects equipment for proper operations and report all deficiencies to the Supervisor.

13) Lubricates and cleans all rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, to ensure that they are maintained in good condition.

14) Tracks all work performed through Maximo including close out of service requests and associated hours.

15) Follows all Hospital safety regulations and procedures.

16) Maintains a safe and clean work environment at all times.

**Qualifications**

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Experience

2+ yrs of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

License/Certifications

CDL CA Driver's License

Completion of an accredited HVAC program

EPA Universal Certification is a plus

Ability to work on equipment located at high elevations and perform moderate lifting

Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility

Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area

Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair with the ability to operate

Basic knowledge of NEC and building codes.

Effective preventive maintenance skills and ability to trouble shoot field issues

Ability to travel to various sites to perform job duties

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Ability to work on ladders safely.

Moderately strenuous, requiring bending, lifting, stretching, squatting and climbing, as well as sedentary involving use of computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
