The Walt Disney Company is seeking a law student for a summer internship in its Corporate Legal Department. The intern will have an opportunity to work with talented professionals who advise the Company, which owns one of the largest portfolios in the world on intellectual property issues, as well as the Department’s dedicated legal antipiracy teams. The intern will be exposed to cutting-edge legal and policy issues, including complex copyright, trademark and right of publicity issues, as well as antipiracy legal and policy trends worldwide. This is a great opportunity to work on legal issues related directly to the development and protection of the creative content of the Company, including its Studios and Media Networks, and to gain a deeper understanding about the questions and challenges that these issues raise.
**Responsibilities :** A Day in the Life…
This individual will work with the Legal Team in the following key areas:
-Copyright, Trademark and Right of Publicity Issues: Identify emerging legal trends that may impact The Walt Disney Company’s protection of its intellectual property. Work with the Legal team to advise and support the Studios creating short and long-form content for distribution. Learn about cutting edge intellectual property issues.
-Antipiracy Enforcement Matters: Learn about strategies to respond to piracy threats and infringements and work with Legal team and other internal partners on enforcement actions from around the world. Work with teams to respond to inquiries from worldwide partners, external and internal, regarding pirated digital content and physical goods. Identify facts and evidence needed to satisfy different legal theories and assist in developing such to support antipiracy enforcement efforts.
**Basic Qualifications :**

-Minimum 3.0 GPA
-Demonstrated high level of integrity, thoroughness, flexibility, initiative and teamwork
-Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal communication skills
-Excellent judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
-Ability to successfully balance multiple tasks and effectively meet deadlines
-Demonstrated interest in intellectual property issues and the protection of creative content
-Basic understanding of intellectual property issues, including copyright, trademark and right of publicity
-Basic understanding of litigation and civil procedure
PLUS:
-Proof, upon hire, of unrestricted US employment authorization (unrestricted work status is defined as work authorization that has no end date or specific employer restrictions). Employment-based visa sponsorship is not available for this position
-All candidates must be at least 18 years old
-All candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program in order to qualify for this internship
-Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
-All candidates must be available during the months of May/June through August/September 2019 (a minimum of 8, up to 12, weeks)
-All candidates must be available to work 40 hours/week M-F in Burbank, CA
-All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
-All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
-Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)
**Required Education :**
Currently enrolled as a first or second-year law student pursuing a J.D. at an ABA-accredited law school
