Aramark Uniform Services in Los Angeles is currently seeking an Industrial Wastewater Operator.
Position description includes but is not limited to the startup and shut down of system within an industrial laundry facility while maintaining wastewater area in a clean and organized manner at all times. Service and maintain all water treatment pumps, mixers and conveyance equipment. Daily calibration of chemical feeding system including maintaining accurate chemical inventories on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Perform hourly checks of chemical feeding systems, recognize water clarity changes and adjust chemical feeding accordingly. Maintain pit levels and a balanced flow of wastewater through heat exchangers. Conduct hourly check and recording of water temperatures (hot, tempered and DA tank. Condition sludge as needed and process it through filter press. Prepare batches of clay as needed and filter press bin for shipment (level it) ensuring ordering bin pick-up 72 hours in advance of shipping day. Perform preventative maintenance of wastewater equipment, collection of effluent samples and send them to lab per wastewater permit requirements. Repair trolleys and paint equipment and assist engineers as needed. Work is performed in a non-climate controlled environment subject to extreme temperature change, odors and lint while adhering to established health, safety and housekeeping standards/guidelines. Physical requirement include repetitive motion over the duration of the entire shift using arms, fine manipulation of hands, lifting, twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and climbing and crawling within a heavy work category which requires lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Entire work shift is performed both standing/walking on concrete and working at heights on a platform that can require frequent travel up and down a staircase. Basic computer and mechanical skills are required. Ideal candidate must be 18 years or older, have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment; possess a positive attitude, flexibility and the ability to follow instructions and basic command of the English language is preferred.
