HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Lead Food Service Maintenance Worker will support San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s mission of saving species worldwide by planning, supervising, and participating in the repairs, maintains and services a wide variety of machines and equipment utilized in the Food Service Department. This position reports to the Retail Operations Manager.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
+ Schedule preventative maintenance programs and emergency repairs
+ Repairs, maintains and services a wide variety of machines and equipment in the retail Food Service Department
+ Establishes and conducts a preventative maintenance program
+ Installs new and repaired food service equipment
+ Assists food service personnel in moving heavy equipment
+ Operates motor vehicles in transporting machines and equipment
+ Repair walk-in refrigerators and freezers
+ Good work ethics and meets Organization performance standards
+ Assists new personnel as needed
+ Assists (Lead, Cooks, Manager and Supervisor) as needed
+ Compliance with the Organization’s and Health Departments uniform standards
+ Maintains a passing grade on the Environmental Health Department tests
+ Make Customer Service a top priority
+ Engages in the organization’s mission and vision
+ Meets requirements, or higher, in all categories of annual performance evaluation
+ Adheres to all SDZWA and department policies and practices
+ Models punctuality and professionalism

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education, training and/or experience which would clearly demonstrate the essential functions above and, knowledge and skills listed; an example would be three or more years of experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment repairing vending machines, commercial kitchen equipment including all types of refrigerated and freezer units. This position is responsible for communicating and enforcing safety standards, policies, and protocols to their team; coordinating and executing maintenance and repair activities; Implementing and monitoring safety trainings and materials; delegating work to team members and working closely and reporting to the Retail Operations manager and the Retail Operations Office Manager to place orders for materials. The selected candidate will serve as a mentor for their team and assist team members in developing their skills.
CERTIFICATIONS
+ Refrigerant Practices certification required (Type I and Type II)
+ Valid California driver license in good standing
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
+ Effective leadership skills
+ Refrigerant and applications and propane pour/fill procedures
+ Simple plumbing, electrical work and painting
+ Methods and practices for repairing vending machines
+ Methods and practices for repairing commercial kitchen equipment
+ Safety and sanitation methods used in the preparation and serving of food
+ Basic inventory controls and best practices
+ Basic usage and care of standard kitchen equipment and utensils
+ Safety rules and regulations
+ Guest service standards, policies and uniform standards
+ Work effectively in a diverse team environment
+ Work in a high volume, fast-paced environment
+ Keep accurate records
+ Multi-task and prioritize to meet the demands of business
+ Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
