Head, Home Care, Enzyme Development (2100491) - San Diego, CA

_Where the Chemistry Happens…_

You will serve as Care Chemical’s (EM) globally responsible person for discovery and optimization of new Home Care enzymes and be EM’s leading contact at the San Diego site managing the interfaces to global development, central research, IP and site management, in addition you will support EM’s North American business management in the market with the following key responsibilities for EM’s detergent enzyme business at the R&D site in San Diego:

+ Building and leading the EM’s development hub (labs and staff) at the site in San Diego, US

+ Developing and steering the global screening pipeline of detergent enzymes, implementing development projects and the state-of-the-art enzyme screening and application methods.

+ EM contact to define the enzyme opportunity incubator priorities in alignment with the global EMW development head

+ Technical key contact for commercial launch management of detergent enzymes in North America at key customers

+ Leading the global competence center for enzyme development, as such key contact for global strategic marketing

+ Supporting production process optimization for EM enzymes produced in North America linking up with expert centers in Ludwigshafen, Germany

Required: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Bioengineering supplemented by your business education with 5 years post-graduation experience in the detergent industry or its supplier industry.

+ Capitalizing on your profound experience with enzyme biochemistry, enzyme research and development and home care application technology for enzymes coupled with your profound knowledge of the detergent enzyme market including key customers, competitors, IP landscape and regulatory requirements, you are charged with the Build- up of our Enzyme Development group according to the globally agreed principles and responsibilities

+ Leveraging your excellent leadership skills and experience leading global diverse teams successfully, you will provide direct line responsibility for a staff (up to approx. 5 Scientists) and for the implementation and execution of all necessary safety rules and regulations; you will ensure the effective collaboration and alignment with the GB enzyme research organization in San Diego and within EM on a global level.

+ Your broad experience in project management of complex enzyme development projects and in technical and commercial management of projects with market leading customers will contribute to our global enzyme development portfolio in close alignment with the global EMW platform head

+ Your generation of ideas for new products and projects will be based on the strategy of the SBU, and you will actively support the launch of new enzyme products in the regional market

+ Your excellent know-how and experience with methods to assess activity, performance and stability of industrial enzymes will aid in your development of new analytical assays for the assessment of enzymes as well as screening and application methods including high throughput screening and conventional screening methods

+ Your extensive know how of EM’s detergent business and strategy with respect to detergent enzymes needs and trends will contribute to your evaluation of market trends and competitor activities (including IP) for the area of responsibility
