Production Planner/Inventory Specialist - SPX - Brea, CA
JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of this position is to procure materials and/or release manufacturing orders necessary to meet MRP objectives.
The incumbent is responsible for creating the production schedule, issuing work orders and expediting work orders as needed to meet the sales
order ship date through MRP and expedite lists. Additional duties include raw material cycle counts, end of year physical inventory, monitoring
scrap, monitoring production standards and rework and working on special projects when assigned. The successful incumbent will have sound
knowledge of MRP, BOM’s readings and drawings, and can perform work and make decisions independently, with an understanding of how
those decisions will potentially impact other departments. Additionally, this position will also possess the ability to develop and maintain
relationships between the plant and the general office personnel to ensure the smooth flow of the assembly line.
ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE
Analyze and open production orders to be expedited by system reports Maintain a schedule for the assigned area Reviews/analyzes MRP output reports and on-line screens to determine valid requirements, taking into consideration excesson-hand/work-in-process (WIP) material; approves valid replenishment orders in a timely manner resulting in a steady/level flow
to manufacturing.
Determines/maintains valid part order policies, modifier, safety stock, and issue codes as applicable; ensures that post deductand lead-time offsets are correctly assigned in product structure file.
Maintains minimum inventory investment by maximizing turns as well as prudent planning during contract start-ups andchange implementation; utilizes "Exception" reports for identifying situations that will result in excess/obsolete inventory and take
appropriate action.
Coordinates implementation of ECOs related to production orders Manages inventory by maintaining inventory levels of stocked items and implementing a Kanban reordering system Active participant on the ISO audit teamEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school Diploma (or equivalent) required, Associates degree preferred At least 1 – 3 years of experience in planning, scheduling, or purchasing Experience with MRP systems and BOM’s readings and drawings is desiredAbout SPX
