Job Summary

Behavior Matters LLC. is a private group practice of professionals experienced in serving children in need of behavioral support and specialized behavioral services. Behavior Matters utilizes the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support the efforts of children with developmental delays and their families to develop skills to live their lives to the fullest potential. Our focus is always on the development of new appropriate skills to replace those that frustrate the child and interfere with family life. Behavior Matters mission is to work in alliance with families, other professionals to build essential life skills among children with Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD), Autism, developmental disorders, and challenging behavior.

Behavioral Technicians implement instructional programs designed for children diagnosed with Autism between the ages of 1 and 20 in the clinic, home, community and/or school based settings. Behavioral Therapists participate in an intensive orientation and training program that encompasses instructional procedures and behavioral management procedures for instructing clients with Autism using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA Therapist's receive weekly supervision and support from a BCBA/ BCABA and ongoing training from Behavior Matters clinical staff. ABA Therapists are required to implement educational and behavioral programs and maintain and graph treatment data.

Responsibilities and Duties

ABA Behavioral Technician

SKILLS:

Demonstrate the ability to function under stress Demonstrate the ability to deal with hostile or distraught clients of multiple age

levels and with their family members

Perform data review every day. Summarize data and develop graphic display for

parents, other therapists, and insurance companies.

Organizational skills and ability to meet time deadlines Prefer experience working with individuals and families from diverse

backgrounds and disabilities

Meet with other professionals and agencies; maintains liaison with and interacts

with a variety of other agencies and individuals including social service
agencies, schools, doctors, and mental health treatment centers

Completes various administrative requirements; enters data into computer,

prints, reviews, signs, and files documents

Observe, evaluate, and present information effectively, both orally and in writing

with client, parent, staff and supervision team.

Parent training: Train parents in the implementation of a behavior support plan

(BSP) linked to a functional behavior assessment/analysis. The BSP would be
developed by a BCBA.

Enter data as a speed necessary for successful job performance. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and applicable

software applications

KNOWLEDGE:

Demonstrate an understanding of a variety of different behavior analytic

treatment approaches

Demonstrate an understanding of the current research literature related to

recommended practices in behavior analytic treatment

Maintain clinically appropriate client records that meet insurance standards and regulations Implement learned principles and practices of behavioral change and Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable

software applications.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Analyze situations accurately and plan and implement of course of action. Follow Behavior Matters protocols, policies, and procedures Identify, obtain, and participate in appropriate training to update professional

skills

BEHAVIOR:

Demonstrate the ability to function and communicate effectively in a team

approach to behavioral health, performs related duties as required

1:1 direct implementation of intensive behavioral intervention: Implement

program goals in the learner’s natural environments. Teaching formats may consist of natural environment training, discrete trial training, community based training, or a combination of various formats.

Enter data at a speed necessary for successful job performance. Assist with functional analysis/functional behavior assessment: Assist with the

collection of data and/or assuming the therapist role for a functional behavior assessment or functional analysis. The role of a therapist in a functional analysis would require the individual to conduct the role in the attention, demand, or tangible conditions of a functional analysis for severe problem behavior.

Establish with staff members a productive, healthy relationship focused on improving program services Seek clinical guidance from the Supervisor to strengthen all clinical aspects of program Work with minimal day-to-day supervision while soliciting professional assistance in areas of responsibility as necessary Participates in staff conferences for discussion of diagnosis and treatment of clients Attends and participates in professional group meetings and professional development/continuing education activities; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the field of behavior analytic services Follow HIPPA regulations Handle stressful situations calmly. Maintaining the highest level of

professionalism when working with clients, families, supervisors, office staff and
other professionals.

Works independently with little direction as well as cooperatively in a team

environment

Works confidentially with discretion; respect client confidentiality. Maintain a high standard of professional ethics at all times. Arrive to work on time; return phone calls, emails and text within designated Assist with clinic opening and closing procedure.

Qualifications and Skills

1. High School Diploma

2. Some College / Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (Preferred, but not required)

3. Experience in teaching individuals with disabilities and/ or challenging behaviors

Must have reliable vehicle
