Full Stack Engineer - UI - Opportunity for Working Remotely - VMware (California)

We are looking for a talented Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team!

The VMware Engineering Services team builds web-based UI components and interfaces which provide consistent experiences across VMware products. The UI portfolio includes products that deliver enterprise scale self-service data centers on top of a virtualization platform for compute, storage, and networking. Our applications enable IT managers, administrators, and non-technical users to navigate and manage a world with large amounts of heterogeneous applications. You will apply your imagination and skillset to create experiences that delight our customers.

Responsibilities

+ Implement, maintain, and expand SaaS automation tools which include automation test framework, continuous integration testing, continuous deployment required for end-to-end software development process automation.

+ Collaborate with a group of software engineers (local and offshore) to deliver on software projects using proven Agile development methodologies.

+ Work with internal customers (Product Development & QE) to gather requirements to deliver creative solutions that meet needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and realistic implementation schedules.

+ Work with Infrastructure teams such as SRE and Networking to drive high levels of customer satisfaction for engineering teams.

Required Skills:

+ Hands-on experience working with large scale web applications

+ Expertise with at least one modern JavaScript framework (Angular/React)

+ Expertise in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS

+ Proven track record in large scale, enterprise class software development

+ Ability to learn and apply new technologies, design practices, and usability patterns

+ Ability to contribute to end-to-end system architecture, working with back-end engineers, the UX team, product managers, and other technical teams

Strongly Desired Skills:

+ UX, Visual design and CSS

+ Good grasp on usability and interaction design

+ Experience with Kubernetes, containers and microservices

+ Practical understanding of SDLC, design patterns and frameworks

+ Python, TypeScript or JavaScript

+ Relational Databases like Postgres and MySQL

+ REST API usage and design

The following standard list of requirements for software engineering jobs is also applicable:

+ Bachelor’s degree in CS, Masters preferred

+ 3+ years of related experience in the software industry

+ Written & verbal communication skills

+ Interpersonal skills and proven ability to deliver on schedule

+ Hands on experience with Container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)

+ Possess a good sense of performance tradeoffs and optimizations

+ Able to guide collaborate with other engineering and product teams

+ Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills
