Become an **Environmental Project Manager/ Science Advisor (EPM)** at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll manage projects or programs that require positive relationships between Environmental Services Department (ESD) and internal SCE partners including Transmission & Distribution and Generation organizations; agencies such as the CPUC, CCC, and LADRP; 3 rd party external clients such as renewable power generators and SCE’s industrial/commercial business customers and consultants. You will be responsible for the execution of ESD’s planning/ permitting/ execution processes, and collaboration with multiple local, state, and federal agencies. This position will advise senior management within SCE on how projects meet local, state, and federal environmental and other regulatory requirements. You will be the single point of contact within the Company for all environmental scope on assigned projects.

As the EPM, you will provide interdisciplinary expertise in environmental regulatory frameworks including the CA Coastal Act, the requirements of various LCPs, CEQA/NEPA and associated resource areas (e.g. Aesthetics, Agriculture, Air Quality, Biological Resources, Cultural Resources, Geology, Hazardous Materials, Hydrology, Land Use, Noise, Population, Recreation, Transportation, water quality, and other resources). + Provide environmental services to SCE’s internal partners including Transmission and Distribution, Generation, Advanced Technologies, Corporate Real Estate, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Government Lands, Government Affairs, and external clients and organizations. Such services will include environmental planning, permitting, licensing, and construction strategy and environmental compliance on assigned electric and non-electric infrastructure and other projects. Act as SCE environmental liaison with all partners on assigned projects.

+ Advise SCE mid-level and occasionally senior leadership with respect to environmental compliance that guides SCE’s long term goals, including company goals for transmission, substation, generation, and other grid facilities and non-electric assets.

+ Provide strategic recommendations and highlight risk regarding intent of environmental laws and regulations to support SCE project development and execution. Contribute to environmental review/ comment efforts on proposed legislation related to coastal development, renewable energy, and grid of the future.

+ Assist team members to continuously update strategies/ processes/ procedures to ensure consistency and standardization of approach across ESD, while identifying creative solutions on project-specific basis, in accordance with agency regulation to improve compliance effectiveness.

+ Lead environmental planning/ permitting/ construction scope of select infrastructure projects. Prepare dashboards and status reports for assigned projects and work closely with ESD staff and management.

+ Ability to multitask, manage large volume of projects, and advise on creative solutions and strategies.

Qualifications

The essentials

+ Seven (7) or more years of experience in environmental compliance, studies, or project management, of which 3 or more years must be in electric infrastructure or coastal project planning, development, and execution.

The preferred

+ Master’s degree in environmental planning, other environmental studies, or related fields.

+ Strong knowledge of the CA Coastal Act and project/ work experience with the CCC, LADRP, or other coastal agencies.

+ Strong environmental planner experience.

+ Experience with Sea Level Rise and special concerns related to electric, water, and generation work on Catalina Island.

+ Excellent public speaking and communications skills and experience.

+ Project Management Certification.
