We are seeking two (2) Clinical Informatics Pharmacist Specialists; one (1) REMOTE and one (1) located either at our South San Francisco location OR our Indianapolis office.

JOB SUMMARY:

Works independently under the broad supervision of a team lead, supervisor or manager. Researches source pharmaceutical information, makes detailed observations, analyzes source content and interprets results for possible inclusion within knowledge base content. Directs and performs data entry tasks and verifies data entry performed by team members. Able to independently plan and prioritize order of completion for work assigned. Reliably completes assigned tasks associated to special projects that are unrelated to day-to-day routine work. Provides in-services and presentations to internal customers. Requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy with a minimum of 2 years in a clinical pharmacy setting or a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with at least one year of experience in a clinical pharmacy setting (defined as a direct patient care setting, or a formalized Drug Information/Medical Scientist setting or clinical residency). If a pharmacist, must be actively registered as a pharmacist in at least one State. If a nurse informaticist, must have a minimum of 2 years experience in medical terminology interoperability. If a physician informaticists, must have a minimum of 2 years of medical terminology experience in medical terminology interoperability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Independently carries out specified research activities, makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets clinical results in comparison to stated editorial policies and work procedures

+ Performs data entry tasks and verifies data entry performed by team members. Independently plans and prioritizes order of completion for work assigned in a manner consistent with policy

+ Actively supports the organization's mission, vision, values and goals. Participates in activities within the organization that supports performance improvement

+ Effectively communicates work progress in writing and verbally. Seeks guidance on issues and project details when necessary for accurate completion of assigned tasks

+ Reliably organizes and completes tasks associated to both routine tasks and special projects that are unrelated to day-to-day routine work

+ Is able to work well with other departmental staff. Works with a peer, supervisor or manager to optimize and continuously improve work procedures, process flow, control plans and editorial policies

+ Performs within established timeliness and accuracy standards at FDB

+ Performs additional duties for the organization as assigned by supervisory personnel

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Education - Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited U.S. College of Pharmacy. Actively licensed in at least one State as a pharmacist, nurse informaticists with a masters or greater degree; physician with a relevant degree from the U.S. or other recognized country.

Minimum Experience - If a pharmacist, two years recent experience in a clinical pharmacy setting with a bachelor's degree; one year experience in a clinical pharmacy setting with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Previous experience in a specialty pharmacy managing patients as well as being certified in at least one specialty disease area of practice highly preferred.

Skills Required - Basic proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point). Demonstrates effective verbal and written skills. Able to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively work in a team structure. Demonstrates ability to analyze a large repository of source information and come to sound, evidence-based clinical conclusions. Active participation in a job-related professional organization is preferred and is encouraged after hire.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Researches source terminology, pharmaceutical information as needed, makes detailed observations, applies FDB terminology standards, analyzes clinical evidence and interprets results for possible inclusion within knowledge base content in a manner consistent with stated editorial policies. Responsible for continual improvements in clinical evidence source capture relating to assigned DDS content coverage. Responsible for timely response and database updates that relate to clinical data change trigger events in disease decision support area, such as new information from FDA MedWatch, Safety Label Changes or Health Canada MedEffect requiring newly authored supporting terminology and mappings.

+ Performs data entry tasks and verifies data entry performed by other team members. Able to independently plan and prioritize order of completion for work assigned. Work performed meets or exceeds stated product maintenance standards. Responsible for timely review of drug information inheritance through knowledge base drug group rules using daily Apollo reports. Completes this review before Thursday data base production. Responsible for managing and responding to internal post-production data audit reports.

+ Actively contributes to process and quality improvement efforts. Provides in-services and presentations to internal customers. Responsible for ongoing maintenance of module-specific editorial policy documentation and workflow processes documentation.

+ Reviews daily data change reports, as required, reviews weekly clinical post-production data audit results, and brings challenging or controversial clinical or terminology issues to the larger DDS team members for discussion.

+ D emonstrate abilities acquired within a clinical practice setting that relate drug and disease information and medical terminology and demonstrate medical terminology knowledge and some understanding of disease management and therapy monitoring knowledge.
