About the team
The FIS Public Cloud Operations team at FIS provides support for cloud deployed environments within Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and Google Cloud. FIS’s burgeoning maturity in the cloud space will drive shorter time to market solutions which in turn will meet customer expectations around services provided by FIS throughout the world. We are looking for a talented resource, who is comfortable working multiple appropriately prioritized issues and/or projects at a time. What you will be doing
FIS is looking for a Director of Cloud Strategy that will work on complex business requests with respect to deployed cloud infrastructure technologies within Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and Google Cloud. A Director of Cloud Strategy who understands not only cloud technology concepts and offerings, but also a solid understanding of networking in general and system interdependencies. The candidate will be able to correlate cloud offerings, technology offerings and business requirements to deliver a solid cloud centric solution strategy that addresses modern client expectations: data sovereignty, global reliability, scalability and flexibility. The Director of Cloud Strategy will work closely with lines of business, the cloud architecture teams, FIS security and compliance teams to produce a documented living cloud strategy for FIS. Candidate will provide guidance around the created standards and templates, based upon the cloud strategy that will inform the entirety of development and operational life cycles. Candidate will interact with various lines of business, FIS Cloud teams, engineering and operations, with respect to production and development processes. The candidate will be providing input around process improvements between teams, between customer relationships and business tool owners. The candidate will work collaboratively with varying skillsets across the organization, business as well as technical. The Directory of Cloud Strategy will produce operationally centric cohesive strategies, for the varying cloud products and implementation types, that are consumable by the FIS executive teams, the lines of business as well as the cloud architecture teams.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Deliver an operational cloud strategy that will inform development and operational standards and practices across the cloud organization.
+ Formulates and defines a operational cloud strategy that encompasses the scope and objectives of business objectives, through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of cloud deployable technologies.
+ Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time and form of desired results.
+ Influences business partners and service providers regarding priorities, hardware/software selection and/or vendor selection.
+ Identifies and documents technical strategies, objectives and drivers.
+ Work with the cloud architect group(s) so that a comprehensive operational cloud strategy can be established.
+ Analyze problems/trends with client systems and applications and takes steps to avoid recurrence.
+ Recognize abnormal processing conditions and raise appropriate issues as needed.
+ Re-engineering processes to deliver greater effectiveness and efficiency.
+ Identifies/documents how applications and systems interact to support business processes.
+ Uses knowledge of systems and industry requirements to develop or modify complex information systems.
+ Will mentor, guide, advise lines of business representatives, cloud architecture teams and development and operational support teams.
+ Considers business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.
+ Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you bring:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
+ Experience in handling concerns around financial regulatory requirements, where data is concerned, e.g. PCI, NPI and PII.
+ In-depth knowledge and experience of infrastructure as code practices where Hashicorp’s Terraform is concerned.
+ In-depth knowledge of principles, theories, practices and techniques for making activities related to planning, managing and implementing cloud operational projects and programs
+ Broad subject matter knowledge of user group for practical application of system characteristics
+ Broad knowledge of architecture of enterprise level information technology hardware, e.g., WAN, LAN and computer systems and peripherals and software platforms
+ Broad knowledge of practices, guidelines and procedures for planning, implementing and monitoring enterprise level information technology hardware and operating system infrastructures
+ Broad knowledge of information technology functions including information systems design and development, systems planning, programming, operations, architecture, data processing, data security, networks, systems support and analysis
+ Broad knowledge of basic IT technologies, i.e., operating systems, network devices, software development and architecture
+ Broad knowledge of emerging technology issues and trends
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
+ Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources
+ Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, team-building and conflict and time management skills
+ Is resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas
+ Strategic thinker with demonstrated sound business judgment, understanding of business purpose of each project and decision making within that context
+ Proven project management skills of multiple large and/or complex projects, i.e., projects involving many activities and deliverables or that have a major impact risk/value to the organization
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively complete budget preparation, cost management
+ Ability to proactively address difficult issues and effectively handle demanding or upset clients
+ Ability to effectively allocate resources to available finances and workforce to meet the plan
+ Ability to drive a flexible staffing model capable of reacting quickly to fluctuations in demand
+ Ability to champion cross-functional process improvement efforts and leverage innovations across projects
+ Skill in the design, implementation, maintenance and day-to-day operation of information technology infrastructure components, e.g., LAN, WAN, computer systems and peripherals
+ 5 plus years of managing, leading cloud infrastructure projects.
+ Demonstrated customer-focused leadership ability
Added bonus if you have:
• 3 to 5 years of Hashicorp Terraform Enterprise development with the following key skills:
+ Terraform CRUD operations
+ Terraform modules -- how to consume and contribute to them
+ Terraform remote states
+ Terraform state management
+ Proficient in translating abstract solutions into fully developed Terraform Enterprise code utilizing a combination of disciplines/concepts like modules and state.
• Proficiency in Open Source and Git Concepts
