Controller - A. Duda & Sons Inc. (California)

Duda Farm Fresh Foods, is currently looking for a qualified Controller to join our Accounting & Finance team. This position will provide leadership and direction to the accounting teams in California and Florida supporting Duda Farm Fresh Foods (DFFF), so that periodic and annual financials are prepared timely and accurately. Lead, develop, and direct the DFFF accounting staff to be business partners with operations management. Support DFFF operational leaders in California and Florida with timely financial information along with analysis related to business opportunities. Coordinate year-end profit forecasts and annual planning efforts. Monitor the DAX system performance to meet the needs of the DFFF business.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

+ Lead, advise, direct, and support the DFFF accounting team located in both California and Florida. Focus the accounting staff on issues that support timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial reporting along with teamwork with their business partners.

+ Partner with DFFF management and the accounting team to provide financial guidance, timely financial information, and regular review of internal controls for DFFF's businesses.

+ Conduct monthly and annual review of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cost statements, key performance indicators, and monthly financial reporting packages.

+ Provide forward-looking business analysis and support to California and Florida DFFF management that will support sound business decisions regarding products, customers, growers, joint ventures, and other activities.

+ Support and develop the DFFF accounting staff with succession planning by identifying strengths in individuals, addressing areas where improvement is required, providing performance feedback on a regular basis, coaching through challenging situations, and listening to feedback received from accounting team members.

+ Direct and oversee year-end profit forecasting, annual planning, and annual budgeting work for DFFF by coordinating efforts with operations management and the accounting staff.

+ Work with the Corporate Controller and Senior Director of Accounting Systems to ensure that the DAX system is working as needed for our customers, growers, and business team partners.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.

+ CPA preferred.

+ 10+ years of overall combined accounting & finance experience in produce industry management required.

+ Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

+ Experience with ERP systems implementation and upgrades.

+ Expert level computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the ability to quickly learn new software.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Ability to identify and resolve problems independently and with sound judgment.

+ Ability to consistently demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness and dependability.

+ Participates in key decisions as part of the Leadership Team.

+ In coordination with the Corporate Controller and business unit leader, develops performance measures that support DFFF?s strategic direction.

+ Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and trends in order to assist the senior staff in decision making.

+ Oversees the hiring, training, evaluation and work of DFFF?s Accounting & Finance staff.

+ This role will require travel to the company's areas of operations up to and including overnight travel 25% to 35% of the time.
