Manufacturing Test Engineer - Danaher Corporation (California)
Overview:
The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be responsible for hands-on test plan execution in the development of Cepheid’s next generation medical diagnostic instrument platforms and production systems. This role works within a team comprised of electrical, mechanical, software and optical engineers to design and test molecular diagnostic systems that will be commercialized as key products in Cepheid's portfolio.
You will also support test methods development, help maintaining test platform and improve/streamline existing test infrastructure for both design and manufacturing engineering - you will know the “what,” the “how,” and the “who” to complete product design verification and screen for good parts on tight timelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Meticulous and timely test execution based on approved test plans using test equipment for testing electro-mechanical, electro-optic, and other integrated systems.
+ Maintain and continuously improve efficiency of existing test infrastructure.
+ Troubleshoot test equipment and test fixture issues to minimize downtime.
+ Participate in design and process changes to improve testability and observability of electronics and electro-optical subassemblies and systems.
+ Help resolve supplier quality issues.
+ Perform failure analysis of PCBAs, subassemblies, and instruments from manufacturing and customers.
+ Support compliance with medical device quality system including on-time completion of training, corrective action closure, discrepant material dispositions and Change Order submission.
+ Provide training to engineering technicians.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience (in years):
+ B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Biomedical Engineering (or an equivalent technical discipline) with 2 years of applicable experience
+ M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Biomedical Engineering (or an equivalent technical discipline) with 0-2 years of applicable experience
Knowledge and skills:
+ Demonstrated knowledge of test and measurement fundamentals such as signal processing and statistical data analysis through either course works or class projects.
+ Fast learner, self-motivated, willing to work outside the job description.
+ Demonstrated analytical/experimental problem-solving skills to understand hardware, software, reagents and consumables issues and to be able to quickly analyze and resolve system inter-operability problems.
+ Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
