Shiley Receptionist/Office Assistant - UC San Diego Health System - San Diego, CA
Under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor, the Shiley Receptionist/Office Assistant provides front and back office support to the Shiley Eye Center and front office support to Ratner Children's Eye Center. The position will answer multi-line telephone, schedule appointments using IDX on-line clinic appointment system, as well as greet and check-in patients. Duties include, but not limited to: abstract reconciliation, verifying insurance authorizations, preparing and organizing medical record charts, and ordering supplies.
Must be willing to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS Ability to screen telephone calls and direct callers to appropriate resource or staff member for further screening and disposition. Demonstrated ability to use standard office machines, including Macintosh and PC computers, multi-line phone system, copier and fax machines. Knowledge of UCSD policies/procedures pertaining to cashiering/cash handling. (preferred) Exercise mature judgment and extreme discretion in communicating privileged information to individuals, including those matters relating to sensitive patient relations. Excellent interpersonal/communication skill including tact, diplomacy and flexibility dealing with diverse personalities and situations. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality. PREFERRED Knowledge of IDX on-line clinic appointment system and ability to enter information into CRT. Advanced fluency in written/spoken Spanish and English.
