The Nursery Lead Supervisor will assist in the management and oversight of the day to day operations of the Snelling Nursery. The Nursery Lead Supervisor will serve as the immediate leader to the various Ranch Supervisors, Assistant Supervisors and Crew Leads as assigned. The Nursery Lead Supervisor may serve as the principle back-up to all Nursery Managers including and not limited to this particular site.
Responsibilities

 Assist the Nursery Manager in managing the daily operations of an assigned Nursery region. This involves direct or indirect oversight and deployment as assigned of a: Plant Planting Plan, Fumigation Worksite Plan, Plant Health Program, Plant Growth Program, Plant Quality Assurance Program , Plant Digging Plan, Plant Trimming and Nursery Compliance Program. Assist the Nursery Manager in planning, implementing, data tracking and year-end analysis and reporting for Nursery trials. Assist in developing planting systems and trials. Develop, track and publish performance and key process metrics to measure field operational success. Assist in the recruitment, training, and development and evaluation Field personnel. Prepare and adhere to operational and capital budgets and participate in planning for future Nursery needs. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations for safety and chemical use. Follow company policies and practices while representing Driscoll’s in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, etc. Ensures the safe keeping of proprietary varieties and confidential information. Perform other duties as instructed by Nursery Manager or Nursery Leadership Team.
Candidate Profile The position requires a minimum of four years of leadership experience in an agriculture setting. A bachelor’s degree or higher in the agricultural or horticultural sciences is preferred. A combination of additional relevant work experience maybe accept in lieu of education. Intermediate knowledge of row-crop growing knowledge is required. Proven leadership abilities are required. Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are preferred. Strong computer skills in MS Excel, Word and Outlook are required. Position requires: reliability, attention to detail, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, excellent verbal and written communication skills, project management skills, ability to work cross functionally, creativity and a process improvement mindset. This position also requires the ability to work an extended schedule, domestic and international travel depending on operational needs. A valid driver’s license is also required. Must be willing to temporary locate to a Nursery region as needed when needed.
