Sr. Lead Investment Products Advisor- Wealth Management Group - Bank of the West - San Francisco, CA
Serves as distribution arm of the WMG Product advisory desk. The advisory desk is the group within WMG in charge of certain investment products. The range of products evolves constantly and at this time includes structured notes and hedge funds. The product advisor will constantly interact with the internal sales force (Relationship Managers, Financial Advisors and if required given the client’s needs or sophistication, their clients), in all matters that pertain to the AD product range. The objective of these interactions is to promote the distribution of the products to the bank’s wealth management clients, which should translate into more diversified portfolios for the clients and increased AUM and fees to the Bank. The product advisor will combine educational initiatives, product focused presentation, internal team and individual meetings and client visits, while leveraging internal and external resources. While the position will include some participation in the design of the product offering, it will mostly focus on the distribution effort.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Proactively markets the Advisory Desk (AD) products to the bank’s WMG sales force through actions such as phone calls, conference calls, seminars, meetings at the branch, market or regional level, written, video, web-based communications.
2. In accordance with the recognized need for constant education and training
develops and maintains an education program aimed at internal sales as well as clients to enhance the knowledge and understanding of potentially complex offerings.
3. Interact with the different product managers to communicate client needs and sales feedback that can be relevant to the AD product offering.
4. Act as main point of contact for financial advisors and relationship managers in search of information with regard to a product in the Advisory Desk’s range.
5. Use the bank’s resources to communicate best practices and share highlights in all relevant client interactions.
6. Availability for client meetings and to assist the relationship managers and financial advisors prepare for those meetings.
7. Work with product specialists to build sales narratives for each relevant product.
8. Develop tools to actively monitor investment and reallocation opportunities in the bank’s client base.
9. Works with product and sales management to achieve potential sales targets.
10. Directs the gathering of market intelligence so that business segment opportunities may be capitalized on as they occur and the effects of competitive activity are minimized. Plans, conducts and directs major long-term projects.
11. Develops and recommends pricing strategies that will result in meeting specific business segment and/or product objectives.
12. Maintains contact with Bank officers responsible for marketing and sales of assigned products to monitor trends, determines customer acceptance, understand sales officers’ needs, etc.
QualificationsEducation/Licensing:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or related field required
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or related field preferred
Active FINRA licenses series 7, 65 or 66 and Life Insurance preferred
Experience/Skills:
Demonstrated strong knowledge of asset management business and investment products across major asset classes (i.e. fixed income, equities, alternatives, money markets, fx) Exhibits a depth of knowledge across capital markets and traditional and alternative investment solutions for wealth management, family office, and not-for-profit market/client segments. Strong presentation and written communication skills. Ability to summarize client meetings and/or other client interactions for individuals at various levels in the organization. Proven ability to produce strong business analysis for key stakeholders with the ability to identify, review, and priortize business requirements across multiple products. Ability to proficiently use MS Software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other technology platforms as needed such as Bloomberg, Reuters and Google Analytics and/or others.
