CNC Machinist - MMI - Sonora, CA

Principle Responsibilities and Duties:

Machinist Skill Set:
Position Summary: Proficient in the operation of both manual and CNC equipment. Demonstrates the ability to set up many jobs without assistance including determination of feeds and speeds, tooling, fixture requirements, etc. This machinist consistently demonstrates the ability to operate machines that have been set up including in-process part measurement, replacing tools and determining & inputting appropriate offsets. Machinists have developed the ability to machine a wide range of materials and hold close tolerances, but lack experience with exotic or harder (Rc) materials.
Journeyman Skill Set:
Position Summary: An experienced machinist (typically a minimum 7 years) who consistently demonstrates the ability to plan, setup and run jobs without assistance. A Journeyman is adept at a wide variety of machining techniques, advanced in the development and use of fixtures and/or use of multi-spindle/turrets. Consistently demonstrate "continuous process improvement" on each part machined and demonstrates those as improvements to set-up time, run-time, tool-life, or other process improvements. This machinist is capable of using the full spectrum of inspection equipment to measure their parts- including CMM operation via touch off programming. Inspects for first article inspection and demonstrates strong understanding of inspection methodology when creating statistical process control for in-process inspection. A Journeyman is knowledgeable of a broad spectrum of materials and the tooling and techniques to machine those materials effectively and efficiently. This machinist possesses strong "G" code programming experience and provides input regarding improvements to machine programs and assists other machinists in the setup and operation of jobs as called upon. This machinist shows an understanding of machine maintenance, consistently maintains the work center, and can diagnose and repair average machine issues. The journeyman machinist documents all relevant aspects of setup and run of jobs such that the instructions enable other machinists to machine subsequent runs of the job effectively within quality, efficiency, & time standards parameters.
