Regional Construction Broking Leader - West - Willis Towers Watson (California)

The Regional Construction Broking Leader is responsible for all Construction Casualty placement teams and activities within Willis Towers Watson’s West Region. They set the strategic direction for broking, build and maintain strong relationships with Insurance company underwriters and leaders, oversee and guide broking/placement colleagues and collaborate with a variety of other Willis Towers Watson associates. The Role

Responsible for all construction casualty placement teams and activities within Willis Towers Watson’s West Region. They set the strategic direction for broking, build and maintain strong relationships with Insurance company underwriters and leaders, oversee and guide broking/placement colleagues and collaborate with a variety of other Willis Towers Watson associates. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Providing expert, in depth advice to clients resulting in overall client satisfaction

+ Developing new partner markets where needed locally and supporting nationally based relationships with carriers and clients

+ Stimulating revenue growth and meeting business objectives by placing new business, improving retention rates, increasing commission rates and utilizing group resources

+ Overseeing the marketing new business opportunities and securing coverage

+ Supervising the review of renewal business for adequacy of coverage and competitive rates

+ Negotiating terms for major accounts and providing expertise for difficult to place business

+ Participating with the North American Head of Construction Broking to establish overall placement strategy for the West region

+ Recruiting, motivating, mentoring and managing colleagues and overseeing workflow distribution

+ Ensuring local succession planning is in place

+ Coordinating with Regional Construction Leader and Market Leaders ensure alignment between placement and production strategies

The Requirements

+ Bachelor’s level degree; Insurance degree a plus

+ Insurance Brokers License required. Advanced professional designations preferred

+ 10+ years of relevant construction insurance industry experience including underwriting or analytical experience

+ Recognized as expert in the casualty construction insurance field with deep technical knowledge of insurance contracts/structure;

+ Knowledge and understanding of global marketplace

+ Proven experience of managing a team of professionals and others, as appropriate to role

+ Experience managing large clients (multi-plan/state; loss sensitive, etc.)

+ Detailed knowledge across a variety of broking techniques, or expertise in a narrower area

+ Strong client service orientation with ability to proactively understand client’s needs and present/implement solutions.

+ Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills

+ Team player who takes initiative, is resourceful and is self-motivated to continuous learning and development

+ Computer skills which include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, as well as navigation within the Internet
