Designer-Drafter 2/3 - Clearance Required - Northrop Grumman (California)
Northrop Grumman - Mission Systems Sector - Undersea Systems Division is seeking a self-starting, motivated Designer/Drafter 2 or 3 to joinour dedicated team. The team designs, develops, tests, delivers, and operates advanced prototype, unique marine systems. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to support a variety of unique equipment designed for marine applications.
The expectation of this position is an individual who has all the designer/drafter skills as outlined herein, plus a hands-on individual with the mechanical aptitude to perform some field engineering work during surge workload maintenance periods as outlined herein.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- The designer/drafter will be required to design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Utilize computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as SolidWorks.
- Gather information, perform studies, make calculations, and prepare original rough layouts andsketches to present design proposals.
- Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, planning group, and customer personnel.
- Create drawings from 3D models, write change orders,and update legacy drawings to incorporate design changes.
- This position requires an activea DoD Top Secret/ clearance (or equivalent) with SCI eligibility.
- Technically proficient employees may have the opportunity to deploy at sea with customer personnel for 40-50 day durations. These deployments offer employees the opportunity to experience and evaluate firsthand the real world performance of the systems they have designed. Employees are compensated for deployments.

**Basic Qualifications for a level 2:**
High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of related drafting or design experience
SolidWorks, Catia, or other similar CAD system proficiency
Active Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) with SCI eligibility
**Basic Qualifications for a level 3:**
High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of related drafting or design experience
SolidWorks, Catia, or other similar CAD system proficiency
Active Top Secret clearance (or equivalent) with SCI eligibility
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software
Team player capable of working closely with customer personnel
Associates Degree
ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Microstation, AutoCAD, and Photoshop software proficiency
Marine systems environment experience
