ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer and faculty members, the incumbent will provide support and assist in the administrative and analytic services for clinical research studies conducted by the Department of Emergency Medicine faculty and residents. Major functions include enrollment of patients and facilitating clinical trials, compilation of data from the patient record, data entry, preparation of regulatory documents, IRB submission, budget preparation, and preparation of documents for contracts and grants. Incumbent will also recruit, supervise, and direct the UCLA student research volunteers. Incumbent will also analyze existing and proposed administrative organizational structures as well as develop policies and procedures.

QualificationsBS/BA Degree with completion of pre-medicine coursework. 2-3 years of prior research or healthcare-related academic work experience. Experience in emergency medicine environment. Knowledge of clinical research operations, including interpretation and implementation of FDA regulations, ICH guidelines. Good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work as a part of the research team; collaborating with P.I.s, physicians, hospital administrative personnel, and patients. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of computer software: DOS, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. Ability to prepare and compose written draft reports of research studies and summary reports. Ability to properly and completely document significant information to form a case study record of research events. Ability to recognize and use technical terminology. Ability to arrange appointments schedules and follow-up without a conflict. Maintain patient data confidentiality at all times. Demonstrated clerical and data entry skills and ability to assist with administrative needs in support of the activities of the department.
